Director / Producer – James F. Khehtie has directed short films Breathless, Bacardi Breezer and Phenomenon. He has worked in various capacities on a number of short films produced by the Australian Film Television & Radio School and University of Technology, Sydney. He has been involved in feature films Mao’s Last Dancer and Little Fish, as well as various television commercials produced for such companies as Canon, Freedom Furniture, KFC, Nintendo of America and UBank. James is committed to directing his first feature film in the near future and sees the epic nature of The Telegram Man as a natural progression to that end. He has surrounded himself with acclaimed industry mentors, including director Bruce Beresford (Mao’s Last Dancer), cinematographer Russell Boyd ASC ACS (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), producers Anthony Buckley AM (Wake in Fright) and Antonia Barnard (The Quiet American), as well as film critic/historian David Stratton who have thrown their considerable weight behind The Telegram Man.
Producer – Ulysses Oliver completed a Diploma of Screen at the Sydney Film School, completing his major thesis work with a high distinction. He has directed and produced several short films both privately and as part of his tertiary education. He has won awards for his work in Sound Design and Editing. Recently Ulysses has completed two successful Short Films as a Producer, Amanecer (with Claudia Karvan as Project Mentor) and Kelly’s Blues, that have gone on to tour the short film festival circuit, and has produced and directed numerous music videos. In collaboration with two partners, Ulysses runs a freelance business called Marshmallow Productions. The business combines Film/Video Production, Web Application Development and Design with a well established client base.
Writer – Victoria Wharfe McIntyre is a graduate of Australia’s Monash University, where she received a Bachelor of Professional Writing with a double major in Drama and Cinema Studies. She attended London’s Blake College studying film and video production and trained at the Guildhall in voice and performance. She has a Bachelor of Social Science Award in Psychophonetics (Steiner-based art therapy) and an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy. She is a member of the Australian Writers Guild and the Media Arts Entertainment Alliance. Victoria has worked on a variety of community, commercial and documentary projects in theater, film and television and has co-written several short films including Blood on the Chandelier with Jeffrey Norris, which was nominated for an Australian Film Institute award and won the Gold Plaque Award at the 32nd Chicago International Film Festival. Her feature film scripts include: Horrie’s War, Father to Son, Clarchen and Convergence. She is currently working on a feature script for Indie LA company Four Stars International.
Executive Producer / Story – John Boyne was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1971, and studied English Literature at Trinity College, Dublin, and creative writing at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, where he was awarded the Curtis Brown prize. His early writing consisted mostly of short stories and he published a number of them. His first story, The Entertainments Jar, was shortlisted for the Hennessy Literary Award in Ireland. In total, he’s published about 70 short stories. The Telegram Man is based on one of his short stories called American Farm ’44. John has published seven novels: The Thief of Time (2000), The Congress of Rough Riders (2001), Crippen (2004), The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2006), Next of Kin (2006), Mutiny on The Bounty (2008) and The House of Special Purpose (2009). The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas was made into an award-winning Miramax film. The novel itself won 2 Irish Book Awards, the Bisto Book of the Year, and was shortlisted or won a host of international awards. Amongst other accolades, it spent more than 80 weeks at no.1 in Ireland, topped the New York Times Bestseller List, and was the bestselling book in Spain in both 2007 and 2008. Worldwide, it has sold more than 5 million copies and was the 6th highest selling novel of 2008. His novels are published in 41 languages.
